It’s snowing like crazy here but it’s business as usual at Softlink Solutions…well, sort of.
How, I hear you ask? Well, here at Softlink Solutions, we are all working from home, but from our customers’ point of view there’s no difference. The IT support is still ongoing, the phones are being answered as always, and we are all pulling together to make sure our customers still get the same great service.
This has been made possible because we all have remote connections to the server back at the office, using vpn (virtual private network). Pretty much all you need to get started is a computer or laptop, and an internet connection! As soon as we dial in, our QL accounts and sales program is available via remote access, we can raise purchase & sales orders and we can invoice as we would on any other day. The support portal is also available and we’ve even used the internet to divert our main phone line!
Nothing has stopped.
It might sound complicated and expensive, but you too can have this setup without the need for a huge outlay. The benefits are many:

- No loss of business
- No danger to you or your staff in adverse weather
Anything I’ve missed?
Another (cheaper) option, would be cloud based computing, all of your documents are hosted on a remote shared server (by a company such as Google), and they are accessible to all of your staff from wherever you are in the world, as long as you have a computer and internet access.
